Leaky Roof? Hit and Run Repair Job . . . or Old Age?
Talk about a rash of poor roofing jobs. Going about our business fixing Leaky roofs the last couple of weeks we have come across several very poor, almost laughable (or cry able depending on how you look at it) poor excuses for roof repairs. As a result we have decided to institute a new policy (after asking a several prospective customers & customers their opinion and watching the video below). With our customers approval we will be taking before and after pictures of each roof we repair . We hope that this will not only document what we are finding on home and business owners roofs but this will also give our customers a chance to see our quality work first hand.
Now a little common sense advise. As with almost everything in life - old age is inevitable . . .and one of the primary reasons for a leaky roof. Old Age makes the asphalt shingles curl and crack causing tears. Granules wear off and can expose the black asphalt. This can be a sign of total replacement. IF only a small area of granules or a few shingles are damaged a temporary repair will suffice. But if one out of five or at the most ten shingles are showing signs of decay then the entire roof needs replacement. So how do I tell the Old age signs of my Flat roof? First it must be determined weather the roof has been replaced before. If it has been re-roofed then a complete tear off must occur. Flat roofs are more prone to leaks due to the fact that the roof has no pitch for snow and other debris to slide off, so it remains on the roof until removal. This can cause an array of damage, including holes from debris, heavy weight causing structure damage and more. Inspecting your roof for these damages in the spring and fall and after a big storm will help keep leaks from occurring as long as you act swiftly. Call 505 350 7717
